Oxford Reading Tree is the main reading scheme used throughout the school. Learning to read is made fun through stories that children can both identify with and want to read for themselves. The stories are carefully written with ‘key’ words repeated throughout the story books. The children progress through 12 stages from EYFS to KS2. Other reading scheme book e.g. Black Cat and library books are used to supplement the scheme.
Phonics are taught using both ‘Letters and Sounds’ and the Phonic books within the Oxford Reading Scheme .
